A fellow mirror maintainer here.

If you open http://php.net, that is the right page to be displayed. No redirects at all.

If you go to http://php.net/mirrors.php and you're in Italy, the Italian mirror(s) should be displayed first, at the top of the list.

As for the it1.php.net record, you just need to take care of the server alias and the staff will do the rest. Don't worry about that. :)

Hi all
A question if i open the page http://php.net and the page aren't 
redirect to it.php.net, it's a problem or it's a normal balancer policy?

Another question, i add the server alias it1.php.net, but it's not 
configured on php.net dns, it's ok?
