And it fixed my issues connecting to a MSSQL server. My dev setup:
Win7 x64
PHP v5.3.1
Apache v2.2.11
Since I am on 64bit Windows I had to set the key in
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\Client\ConnectTo
(Note the Wow6432Node). ConnectTo didn't exist but I just created it and now I can connect.
