I think this is the start of the end for the common drivers?
PDO_INTERBASE with the old stuff, and PDO_FIREBIRD for the more modern approach?

Doesn't the same sort of problem start arising in php_interbase as well 
nowadays? I've been using the fb_xxx functions for a long time now, would be 
nice if the help actually routed through to them ...
