This is 2014 and still, the documentation returns 500 error. Why is the
issue closed?

</div>Must have been something wrong on the phpdoc.org server at that
time you encountered the failure.  All is good now ;-)

When clicking on the @var entry in the left-hand navigation the URL
http://manual.phpdoc.org/HTMLSmartyConverter/HandS/phpDocumentor/tutorial_tags.var.pkg.html
generates a 500 Internal Server Error.


Expected result:

I expect to see the documentation for @var.  :)
