Hi,
PHP 7 will deprecate a couple of things that PEAR core relies on.
A list has been collected at http://pear.php.net/bugs/bug.php?id=20488
We can't keep compatibility with PHP 4 anymore, so we've decided to
bump the minimum version to PHP 5.4, which is what all current stable
distributions ship. ("we" is me, Ken Guest and Ferenc Kovacs[tyrael]).
To prevent breaks when fixing the rest of the PHP 7 problems, I've
taken the time and fixed all unit tests.
pear-core branch "stable" is now running without failures on travis:
