From: #b9f37a266798aeeeaeb Operating system: OS X 10.11.4 (15E65) Package version: PHP version: 5.5.31 Package: Documentation Bug Type: Documentation Problem Bug description: Mac install instructions fail Description: ------------ Regarding https://pear.php.net/manual/en/installation.getting.php Problems: * The Mac instructions start with "On Mac OS 10.4 and earlier", which is about 10 years old * Wget instructions are given then more reliable curl instructions are given, it should just skip to the curl part * Please use https instead of http * See brew.sh for a great example of how to direct people to install software When running the script, the installer chooses poor defaults for Mac which must be overriden (see http://jason.pureconcepts.net/2012/10/install-pear- pecl-mac-os-x/). Perhaps these instructions can be added to the PEAR page. Lastly, this website should be on GitHub so I can send a pull request and fix the issue without bothering you, dear triager. Or if it is already on GitHub, the page at https://pear.php.net/bugs/report.php?package=Documentation could be updated to tell me that. Expected result: ---------------- Googling [pear install mac] lists the php.net page first because it is the most accurate. -- Edit bug report at https://pear.php.net/bugs/bug.php?id=21065&edit=1 --
