(1) Okay, that time it took THAT confirmation via
mail and that was that. The prior time it wanted
confirmation, via yet another form on-line, it
confronted me with signing up and in as a bug
participant. What YOU just sent (BELOW) was what
one normally expects: fetch, punch, and forget.
(Forms and forums invite the problem, obviously,
and many of us will resort to simple direct mail
to webmasters just to circumvent the all too often
unnecessarily detailed forms just to mention a
mistake. Sometimes there's even a webmaster there
to receive it. Part of the problem is that
filling in forms is in and of itself irritating.)
(2) At least some of us use spf txt records to
clarify sender validity; the mailserver has to
match. Maybe somewhere buried among the php and
pear projects there's a routine for checking that.
Since a user must generate traffic to fetch the
confirmation and send it, a routine to check for
spf would not (seem to) add net-gain in traffic.
(3) The error in question seems to have been
around for a while, it's also in the win .chm;
granted, you have a large array of projects, etc.,
but there's gotta be a simpler way, upon finding a
simple mistake in mere documentation, to let
somebody know to hand edit the html. Since I've
begun to notice in the past couple of hours that
many of the script writers are evidently not
native English speakers, they might benefit by a
bypass arrangement that send their own projects a
simple notice of mistakes, without burdening the
outside visitor with details that are NOT germane,
and given that the numerical captcha, if
reiterated a couple of times to safeguard against
luck or (as happened once) irritation, will tend
to indicate human arrival.
(4) Thanks, I actually hadn't seen a numerical
captcha "live" before.
