help with login script

I downloaded an authentication script off of the pear website, but I cannot
figure out how to test it.  I downloaded xampp and put it in the localhost
directory, but I'm not sure where to go from there.  When I try to open up
any of the files in the localhost directory, it comes up blank in the web
browser.  Would you please reply with a step by step process for for using
the authentication script?  Thanks.
