Dear Practitioner,
I write to you in my capacity as Chair of the Association of Complementary Practitioners.
As competent practitioners we all require insurance, credible sources of education and advice, and now more than ever we require strong profession representation; representation which is free from commercial bias.
Over recent years I and my colleagues have become increasingly saddened by the lack of independence demonstrated by some existing organisations. With media companies owning associations, directors of associations being salaried directors of related insurance providers; of benefit to the practitioner seems to have been replaced with of benefit to whoever owns or runs the organisation. We felt it was time for an alternative. We have assembled an experienced team to take forward a simple approach, in which the practitioners organisation is:
truly non-profit,
truly owned by the practitioner membership,
and where advice or recommendation is truly unbiased
It is our belief that this ethos and a robust transparent structure are the essential requirements for any member orientated organisation.
Since opening our doors in March recruitment of members has been phenomenal, not only individual members but also education providers. The ACP will shortly list 400+ UK based training establishments offering both CPD courses for qualified practitioners and professional courses for those looking to add to their existing range of therapy skills.
The ACP Block Scheme Insurance is also very popular. Members find the comprehensive policy with premiums starting at £49 to be excellent value for money. The ACP receives £1 from each insurance policy. This £1 goes towards the administration of insurance related issues. As an organisation or as individuals we have no connection with the insurance providers and derive no profit from the provision of this service to our members.
We are currently engaged in establishing stakeholder relationships with governmental and representative bodies including, The National Institute for Clinical Excellence, The General Medical Council, The Nursing and Midwifery Council, Skills Active, Skills for Health and a wide range of profession councils and organisations.
Full Membership of ACP is £49.99 per annum. This subscription is fixed no matter how many therapies you practice or where in Europe you live.
