Hey Daniel,

I was in need of a dev environment too so I setup some chef cookbooks
and a vagrant environment last night to semi-automate this.

My setup basically runs from a pearweb-trunk checkout - except for the
dependencies there is no pear install foo necessary and the setup is
all automated. I plan to push these things to github (in the pear
organization) - let me know if you'd like a rundown.

Not sure when I'll get to it.
