Let me try again.

User authentication/permissions/etc. is a big, complicated area. Phplib's
solutions for that area aren't generic solutions that let you tackle any
project; they're specific solutions that let you tackle some smaller/simpler
kinds of projects.

Therefore, I don't think they should become the "PEAR Auth", "PEAR User",
etc.
official solutions. I can live with them being inside a PHPLib/ directory,
and
being PHPLib_Auth, etc. But if they're going to be in PEAR, even in a
PHPLib/
directory, they should follow PEAR conventions, so they're going to change,
and
their current API will break...
