Apc.stat = 1 will keep things cached until you tell apc to forget it (I.e. Restart php) I didn't understand how dangerous it was originally. I had sworn Rasmus said to turn it on at a talk so I tried it. Then realized it caches the stat call and everything which checks if the file exists, if it's been modified (which apc would then recache it normally..)
