Doc conversion problem: xml to chm, html, etc

Hello,

I'd like to translate a documentation to Polish version.

I downloaded current CVS tree, but when I run GemDoc on an original
english version, I've get many errors and I can't convert it to any format:
single/multi html, chm, pdf, etc. files :(

A little bit better situation is with German, Russian, etc version,
but I can only convert single xml file to single html or chm file.


The problem is, I'd like to create single, big chm (or html) file and used
it later
to see a progress of my own  translation in "user friendly" version.

Can anybody write me - step by step - how to convert (using current cvs
tree)
choosen (f.e. english) branch from xml files to html or chm version?
OS could be Linux or Windows
