Foreach trouble in PHP 5.1?

I'm seeing some very strange things in recent snaps of PHP 5.1 that manifest themselves when using foreach tags in Smarty - essentially any foreach will kill the PHP instance and result in a 'server not responding' error. Even the very simplest test case is doing this for me. The template compiles ok, but dies when run. Anyone else getting this?
