Using debug in templates

Hi there,

 

I am having a strange and intermittent problem, and I have no idea why it is
happening:

 

Warning: Smarty error: syntax error: custom function 'debug' is not
implemented (Smarty_Compiler.class.php, line 798)

 

I am using Smarty 2.6.14 with PHP 4.4.2 on FC 5.

 

Any ideas?
