You probably want an array of soapvars, something along the lines of  
this
$params = array(
        soapval('somename','dateTime',$date,false,'http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema') 
,
        soapval('somename','dateTime',$date,false,'http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema')
);
