My template idea...

I have created an XML template system in PHP... more accurately, it is more
like an implementation of PHP in XML.  I don't think it is a templating
system as you are talking about, but you could possibly glean some ideas
from it.  It parses an XML document, then executes the functions based on
the tags... so

<print>Hello World!</print>

would execute in PHP

print("Hello World!");

I have also made it extremely easy to do database retrieval (and it is
abstracted using the PEAR DB class) by writing a few simple tags...  The
system is not complete yet, as I am rewriting the engine to parse the
document into a DOM compatible tree (also implemented in PHP!) to make it
easier to support for, if, then, else statements, and also to make it easier
to extend the functionality of the engine.  The engine itself is called
Jadeke, and some (very) basic documentation can be found at
http://jadeke.projectsanity.org/manual and a website going into more details
should be forthcoming.  The pre-DOM compatible source code can be found at
http://cvs.projectsanity.org/index.cgi/jadeke/ (*WARNING* the pre DOM code
is pretty messy, and has been cleaned up due to the simplicity the DOM tree
brings to the picture).  I will be checking in the DOM compatible source in
a couple days when I have solidified and tested it.

I am mostly curious to see how (if?) this could fit into your built-in
templating engine and see if there is some interest out there...  Thanks for
