The "reaction" is that the people who are doing the work on PHP
are being asked to do *more* work by other people who are *not*
doing the work.  Why *shouldn't* they object?

The developers are obviously aware that PHP isn't perfect, but
it's easy to see why they're not thrilled with messages that
essentially boil down to: "This bug affects me, *fix it for me*
because it inconveniences me.  Oh, and by the way, I'm not going
to look at the code to try to fix it myself, I'm just going to
complain over and over that you don't develop PHP according to
the way I think you should."
