I've been using iodbc & openlink for some time with both php3 & 4 and
configuring with both --with-iodbc & --with-openlink.

I have had a number of issues, most notably that to get stored
procedures to work I've had to undefine HAVE_SQL_EXTENDED_FETCH for both
3 & 4.
