Php4 and apache

I have just installed PHP4 and APACHE 1.3.12 using the sources.
Now I have a problem that is that APACHE doesn't start when I boot my
machine. Each time I have to start the deamon in
/usr/local/apache/apachectl start.
How can I make the deamon start when I boot my machine. Do i have to put
hhtpd in /etc/rc.d/init.d  ???
