I was curious how this experience may go down so I: - Randomly chose an interesting looking project - Forked it (one click on github) - Checked out my fork - Fixed a few typos in the README, and committed - Made a pull request (one click on github) And within hours it was merged into the official branch and during that time a maintainer and I dialogued a bit via github. No messing around with diff files or figuring out where to write about the changes but rather it was painless, simple and borderline fun. So although I don't know if private messages will take over mailing lists, if pull requests are easily lost/forgotten, or who exactly can execute these pulls into the main branch... overall this experience felt open and right.
