Status

I think we just need to make this work as-is.  It means changing how we
do things on a day to day basis a bit, and the various checkout scripts
need to get a bit more complex, and I have a feeling this might also
speed the migration away from svn to something less annoying, but we
can't afford to leave revision control down for a week.  We need to get
it back up and fight through the issues.
