I think moving the TSRM/ZendEngine2 paths helps simplify things a lot.

Was there any discussion about using externals for the php-src/ext/*  
paths that reside in pecl?

Do we get any of the benefits from the svn-5.x merge tracking with  
this export?  It might be nice, if possible, to have some history of  
what has been merged where so this can be used.  This might be  
difficult though, so perhaps it will just have to be used on future  
commits/merges.

(not that it's high priority but I'll try out a git-svn checkout of  
this as well to see that it goes smoothly).
