Hey all,

We constantly face the lack of new speakers in Milan. In hindsight, having
very experienced people to talk sets the bar a bit high, so I guess people
feel a bit intimidated of reaching the expectation of the audience.

We have successfully experimented the lean-coffee <http://leancoffee.org/>
format, which is both structured and opened: it gives people a time-boxed
platform without exposing them too much, puts the facilitator in the
position to aid the shy ones and letting them step gracefully out of their
comfort zone. It also gives us organisers a good feeling of what topics are
the most wanted, so we know in which direction we should nudge people
towards, or which new talks we should prepare ourselves.

Just a side note, it's not ideal for more than a dozen of people. In that
case, it's better to have multiple groups, each with a facilitator.

Anyway, if you spot people who are really passionate about some topic, but
hesitate to face the stage, encourage the shit out of them. ;)
