Re: [UG-ADMINS] Fwd: Nashville PHP User Group Meeting

Hi Ben!

Yep, that was me. :) We send all the emails form php|arch "from"
Marco but I'm the one behind the scenes.

This was an experiment. First, I wanted to see how well the
mailchimp.com interface did with geo-targeting (pretty good, not
awesome, but pretty good) and second, I wanted to see what kind of
response I got from the recipients. If you do email marketing you know
that the first rule is don't piss people off. The worst thing they can
do is hit that "Report Spam" button because you get dinged for it. I
wanted to see if I could send an email to a targeted group with a
non-commercial message without getting dinged too heavily. So far, so
good. (Yeah, it did have a "Buy Now" button for the latest edition of
the magazine but that wasn't the focus of the email) For those that
didn't see it and are interested, http://eepurl.com/MYsf

We are trying to find ways to support User Groups with the resources
we have. This was one experiment, Keith is working on some others.
Hopefully, by this fall, we will be able to help you drive membership
and awareness...at least that is what we are shooting for.

Don't hesitate to ping me [email protected], if you have any ideas
on how we at php|architect can help. We know how hard it is for UG
admins and the kind of effort you have to put forth and we want to
help you, help us build the community.
