A few good tips:

Perks:
- O'Reilly gives books for door prizes and reviews, look for their UG
program

Sponsors:
- Look for PHP companies around and pitch to them how great it would be to
have a bunch of awesome people in their office, especially if they are
hiring
- Open a twitter account and spread the news i found a few sponsors this
way.
- Start at your own company :D
- Keep your eye open for recruiters "who get it"™, they can point you to
good companies
