To add to what Cal said about "recruiters that get it" I would say they 
also understand the technology a bit, treat people like "people" and not 
a commodity. Most recruiters I deal with "know" me, and can pretty much 
tell you about me without even looking at my resume unless they need 
fine details. (Or maybe I have been around too long.)

Also, a "recruiter who gets it" is respectful. If they call me on a 
current employers phone it is a sure sign there is no respect there. 
(just one example)
