In this case it was the PHP TestFest, so the focus is on adding tests to
the PHP core (.phpt) for uncovered areas, this event has happened a few
times in the last years.

We usually bring a mentor or someone with experience to help and point
people in the right direction and stuff.. and commit everything at the end.

But with random project it can also help, barrier to entry may be bigger.
