Thanks for the kudos, Keith!

That being said, attendance at DCPHP and Baltimore PHP has dropped off in the past year. Has anybody else experienced this?

Currently I'm running a survey of DCPHP members: both on our old Google Group and through Meetup. I'll let people know what I find out, if anyone's interested (and if the results are something more than "getting around DC is hard").

I will say, based on my Meetup experience so far is that you can get a LOT of members--DCPHP just crested 800 on there--but the commitment level is very low. I'm guilty of this myself: I've joined several meetups and have only attended a few, and certainly haven't become a regular at any.

So Meetup may be necessary, but I'm not sure it's sufficient. :)

Man, it's almost like this organizing stuff is work. Sheesh.

In the 2.5 years since Sandy Smith listed the group on Meetup, another 400 members have appeared. Like it or not, it is *the* place that people go first to find groups of interest.
