Hi James, and welcome! I'm delighted to hear about your new group and I wish you all the best with it. I don't think any of the UK user groups have meetup accounts, so I'm going to disagree with Adam - the results of using Meetup seem to be remarkable in the US, but not so much here. We usually go for twitter, a mailing list and <whatever upcoming is called this week>. I'd also like to re-iterate what Anthony said - if we can help or advise in any way, then just shout!
