As a group communication tool it is great, everyone has time and
disposition to retweet so you can easily spread new about the meetup
around. We use AmsterdamPHP twitter mainly for group communication not
news/RSS stuff. Its a good wy to broadcast to a large audience and then
point people in the direction of the group.

At least that is the way it has worked for us.
