I'm in a similar position with my SDPHP group so far.  We just hit over 230 members on Meetup, and have a regular attendance of 25-30+ people.  I am actually adding a second monthly meetup because the San Diego area is HUGE.  We are going to have one downtown and one in the "North County" area to try and accommodate the people that say the just can't travel that far.

I don't think Nomad will poach our members especially if they are charging and our meetups are free.  And the human interaction at a meetup just can not be obtained through online meetings.
