Hi all!

I don't know if everyone's familiar with FOSDEM, so here's some info.
Fodem (Free open-source developers european meeting,
http://www.fosdem.org) is one of the biggest open-source conferences in
europe, and is held in Brussels, Belgium each year around february. It's
getting a lot of attention in the open-source world and gets a lot of
visitors each year. Last year, for example, around 4000 visitors were
there.

Fosdem has a long history of hosting some of the biggest open-source
software projects, such as mozilla, X.org, gnome/kde and more. Last
year, I was pleased to see that Andrei Zmievski gave a talk about
Unicode in PHP6, but as far as PHP goes, that was about it. PHP is a
pretty big open-source project, so why not gain some visibility by
having a PHP booth/devroom/talk over there?

As we're practically living in Brussels, Michelangelo van dam and me
started the idea to get PHP to Fosdem, and we're looking around to the
european user groups if there are people that might be interested to go
to Fosdem and/or participate in the PHP devroom. Basically we're going
to propose to have a PHP devroom, where we can organize uncon-like
sessions, have some official talks, provide information about PHP and
related technologies or products, and give away PHP goodies such as
stickers or badges.

One little thing: the deadline for proposing such a devroom is 22th of
november. That's not a lot of time left :-) We're going to request a PHP
devroom no matter what, and pretty much are available for organizing the
thing, but we're interested to see what we can do together to get
something going.

User groups would get the opportunity to get some information out,
inform users about events that might be organised and propose ways to
get more involved in the community. And PHP as a whole would get another
bit of attention at one of the biggest open-source events in europe :-)

Anyone interested in this, please let me know!

Kind regards,
