There's been talk about doing something like this locally (as well as
turning the PHP meetup into something more like a web dev meetup, which I'd
rather not see). My concerns have been identity (people looking for the
*php* meetup now need to find it inside of another group), and the annoying
amount of email meetup sends out. For the former, do you do this in
addition to your own meetup group (so the meetup is listed in two places)?
For the latter, I'm assuming the shared meetup group is just various
language (or similar) user groups? For example, locally our general tech
meetup (I also help organize) cut back on a few meetups (pushed them out to
their own group) after the email noise grew and the topics of the various
meetups were too disparate.
