I agree with Keith about a group website.  We have a website for Baltimore PHP and managed to keep it up to date for the first few months it was around.  After that, priorities changed and it fell to the bottom of the list for the group.  With everyone's time restraints, it came to what do we have to do vs what do we want to do.   I'm always pushing to renew the effort, but there are things like finding speakers, etc that are more important.  I do think that getting someone dedicated to handle the website and the social networking aspects can be a huge help to any group.  I'm always looking for folks to help with overall group organization and am using that as a path to get more people involved with the planning and organization efforts.

Re: Meetup:  I think they ended up disabling it because of SSL used in different portions of the site.  We used it for Baltimore PHP, but it wasn't a huge loss when they shut the feature down.
