Sydney PHP Group update

Hi all

Just a brief update to let  you know what's happening at sydphp. You may 
remember from a few months back that we'd considered shutting down the forums 
due to inactivity and from the fact that we didn't want to be just another 
support forum for people - we've carried that out and have updated sydphp.org 
to  just use wordpress with a planet plugin configured (Feed Wordpress).
Membership is still free and we currently have 3 volunteer organisers doing 
the group organisation.

We're now aggregating member blogs via RSS and ATOM, which gives us more of a 
community feel and have setup both twitter (sydphp) and a Google Groups 
announce list (sydphp).

I'd highly recommend going the planet route if you are wondering about 
community, it's probably had the most positive feedback of all the changes.

We've only had two members contact us about the loss of the forums, one of 
those from Argentina (!?).

Finally, we've been able to nail down a new meeting place at Yahoo!7 on the 
harbour in Sydney, a great venue. In December we had nearly 100 people for 
Sebastian Bergmann's pres on PHPUnit and we're expecting about 30 people per 
"normal" meeting, a 100% increase over same time last year.

If anyone on the list is on their way to Sydney, please drop an email to the 
organisers mailbox at sydphp.org - you are welcome to attend or present at a 
meeting.
