Hi

We moved the sydphp group to Google Groups (sydphp) at the end of last year, 
the basis being that we were shutting down the (inactive) forums, wanted a way 
to ping members and didn't want to manage a mailing list.

We looked at mailman but the configuration of it was poorly documented and 
after an hour of prodding away we got nowhere, so binned it. 
We were able to get the google group set up with minimum fuss and put the time 
saved into building other parts of the group site.

Basically, it comes down to list management - hand it off to Google (or 
whoever) and let group admins focus on communicating with members.
