Hello,

My name is Julien. I am an active member of AFUP <http://afup.org>, the
French PHP User Group and a long term member of AFUP Lyon. (So please
excuse my English)

I am starting a project to celebrate 20 years of PHP and the greatness of
its community. I try to gather pictures and videos from people and user
groups who want to show gratitude to the language. Eventually, I'll make a
short mosaic movie with all the contributions and release it under Creative
Commons License.

Quoting the GitHub repository:

From the 1st of September to the 30th of October, anyone with a GitHub
account (for now) will be able to upload a very short video or picture
showing how much s•he loves PHP or its community. Uploaded media can be
selfies, placards, variation of the PHP acronym (People Helping People),
group photos, self expression, fun pics… anything imaginable as long as the
message stays positive.

Eventually, the provided videos and pictures will be gathered in a short
mosaic movie released under a Creative Commons Licence.

You can have a look at the *wip* demo: http://haphpy-birthday.woecifaun.net
(I added some user groups by myself on demonstration purpose)

I would like the PHP User Groups to be involved at a high level. I wanted
to contact the maximum of them by myself. I started to do so when Andreas
Heigl from the php.ug project gave me the tip of writing on this mailing
list. It is possible some of you already receive a similar email or Meetup
message.

In order to introduce the project and to explain how each user group can
take part in it, I detailed what can be done to participate on the GitHub
repo
<https://github.com/afup/haphpy-birthday/blob/master/docs/php-user-groups.md>
.

Quickly:

   - User groups are very welcome to contribute to the commemorative movie
by providing a picture and their profile through a PR. The picture will
appear in the commemorative movie and the user group will be listed with
its logo on the contributions page.
   - User groups can take part in the communication around the project and
the website by following the @haPHPy20 <https://twitter.com/haPHPy20>
twitter account and by relaying progress of the project
   - As any other people, user groups can contribute to the overall quality
of the project and users experience trough issues and PR

Naturally, you can ask me question and send me feedback about anything
(related to the project ;-).

Thank you in advance.

Julien
