Hey Beth,

Sorry you have to deal with this, these things are never pleasant to deal with. We can consider us lucky as our only issue was a rogue recruiter cornering people to accept his job offer. We had a good talk with him and made him an offer he couldn't refuse: he's now our pizza/drinks sponsor and gets 5 minutes at the end of each meetup to give a sketch (stand up comedy) where he gives his open positions in a very humorous way. We tapped into his talent and we got entertainment with sponsorship :-)

As mentioned in this thread I too think this person you mention requires mental support, maybe even medication. Have you reached Ed Finkler about this? Maybe he knows the people who can help you help this person. Maybe ask your UG members if they know someone who can help you out with this person's mental condition.

Banning from UG meetings with a legal restraining order should be a last resort. As a community we're here to help people, even if their minds have wondered off. At least that's how I see our role as community.

He has started doing it at the meetings too. We have asked him to stop and explained that this is not an appropriate venue for these discussions and that the discussions need to stay PHP-focused. He has replied that he cannot stop talking about Jesus, and that if we want him to stop, we'll have to kick him out of the group. We responded with a firm response clarifying that our group is not the appropriate venue for his preaching and that discussions must stay on topic. We did not say he was banned from the group. He has not taken the hint and has now tried contacting the group leadership through the conference website (he apparently doesn't realize that we are the same people) asking for a face-to-face meeting to discuss these issues.
