Not to derail the conversation as a noob to the group, but is a mailing
list the best thing to even use anymore? I'm not saying to use a slack
channel, because that's not a realistic solution for threaded discussions
(more on that in a bit). Also, I don't want to start a flame war on this,
just throwing out a few thoughts. If everyone likes an email list, no
worries.

I mainly bring this up because now that Jeremy's helping out with my group,
I needed to set up something for our organizers/admins to use (since
there's now more than one). Personally, I'm not a fan of mailing lists as
I don't feel they're very good for social interaction and it's too easy to
lose information along the way in a thread (and same for "chat" apps like
slack since there are no real threads at all). The mailing list I've had
for azPHP for years is pretty much dead now and 99% of our current
interaction is in a facebook group. Even a crappy forum would be better
than an email list IMO.

A few free options I'm currently playing with:

* Glip - Relatively simple and intuitive. Unfortunately making a team with
this only allows one person to be the administrator for a team. This
product has tasks & calendar integration, which gives it an edge up on
slack. The interesting thing about glip is you only ever need one
account. You can create multiple teams and add other users as either
guests or co-workers.
* Ryver - Full disclosure: I worked at Contatta, which is what Ryver came
from after they ripped 2/3 of the functionality we had built out of it
(used to have tasks, calendar, and be an actual email client). I no longer
work there, but what they've built is a step up from slack in that you can
actually make threaded discussions by making a "Post" and commenting on
it. You can also reply to other comments.

If anyone has any other options, I'd love to hear them. A google group
would probably be fine, but it's still pretty much just email.
