So auf die Schnelle und ohne Garantie kann ich mich dunkel daran 
erinnern, daß Du bei der konfiguration des Kernels (also nach Eingabe 
von >make menuconfig<) irgendwo, aber ziemlich weit oben im menuconfig 
die "Debuginfos" (oder so ähnlich) abschalten mußtest. Danach waren die 
module und der restliche Kernel Krempel moderat groß.
