Hi,

it is at the time to find out when to schedule the OpenPrinting
micro-conference. The micro-conference will take 3:30 hours in total. It
can take place on each of the conference days (Mon, Sep 12 to Wed, Sep
14) and on each day there is a morning and an afternoon slot. The
conference takes place in Dublin in Ireland, so during the day of Europe.

We will talk about:
-------------------

Till Kamppeter: Testing and CI for OpenPrinting projects

Till Kamppeter: Sandboxing/Containerizing alternatives to Snap for
Printer Applications or CUPS

Michael Sweet, Till Kamppeter: 3D Printing

Michael Sweet: CUPS 2.5 and 3.0 Development

Till Kamppeter, Aveek Basu: Documentation for OpenPrinting projects

Piotr Pawliczek: Restricting access to IPP printers with OAuth2 framework

Now I have some questions (I need answers as soon as possible):

Who of you wants to participate?
--------------------------------

I know that as speakers me, Michael Sweet, Aveek Basu, and Piotr
Pawliczek are participating. At least I will participate in person.

Anyone can participate, in person or virtually.

in-person registration is sold out, but we have 6 reserved slots for
in-person registration for participants of our MC. One slot I will need
for me. 3 slots are free-of-charge and 3 require the payment of the
usual conference fee.

Any amount of people can participate virtually. Aveek Basu will
participate virtually.

You do not need to be a speaker in order to participate, both in person
or virtually.

Please anyone reading here tell whether you want to participate, whether
virtually or in person in Dublin, whether you require a free-of-charge
pass for in-person participation.

Once we know who will participate in person we will send registration
codes to the appropriate people.

When should the event take place?
---------------------------------

Principally, we want to run the MC at a time when as many people as
possible can participate and when it is assured that all speakers can
participate. We also want to avoid that virtual participants, especially
if they are speakers, do not have to get up in the middle of the night.
And if you want to participate in person, we want that you do not miss
anything running in parallel with our MC, other MCs, refereeed talks,
BoFs, ... or presentations on the OSS EU, which also takes place in
Dublin, in the same week.

So please tell us:

Do you want to participate virtually or in person?

In case of virtual participation, do you prefer the MC in the morning or
in the afternoon in Dublin? Also do you prfer a certain topic of the MC
to be near the beginning or near the end of the MC? Which of the 3 days
do you prefer? Do you have conflicts? Days? Hours?

In case of in-person participation, have a look at the schedules of the
Linux Plumbers and also (if you attend it also) of the OSS EU. If
schedules are not ready yet, tell us at least which other MC, talk,
presentation, ... you want to attend. Also tell us if you are not
present all the three days.

Possible overrun
----------------

It is possible that we will not be able to complete our MC in the given
3:30 hours. For such a case the Linux Plumbers organizers are offering
to select an afternoon slot as one can stay longer in the MC room at the
end, but there are restrictions: The A/V team hired by Linux Plumbers is
hired only for the scheduled time, so their service ends appropriately
and for the extra time we do not have any A/V, neither in the room nor
for broadcasting to virtual attendees. We can feed into Big Blue Button
from the room with our own equipment (laptop), like a virtual attendee,
though and so stay connected during the extra time, but I am not sure
whether we will still get recorded then. Also in-person attendees do
perhaps not want to miss the evening social event of that day.

Life experience in Dublin
-------------------------

And please, consider in-person participation. I do not only want to be
alone in the MC room but also it is a lot more fun to be there, attend
also the other sessions, perhaps even the OSS EU, attend the evening
social events, and ... Hallway sessions!!!

Please tell us your decisions as soon as possible. Thanks in advance.
