Hi,
The CHUWI CoreBook Air 14" (AMD Ryzen 5 6600H variant) has a Synaptics (formerly Conexant) SN6180 codec whose internal speakers produce no sound under Linux. The issue reproduces across multiple distributions (i.e., Omarchy 3.8, and Zorin OS 18) confirming that it is not a distribution-specific issue.
System:
- Laptop: CHUWI CoreBook Air 14" (Ryzen 5 6600H)
- Kernel: 7.0.3-arch1-2
- BIOS: American Megatrends International, LLC., 12.0 (01/05/2026)
- Codec: Synaptic SN6180
- Vendor Id: 0x14f120d1
- Subsystem Id: 0x20147054
Symptoms:
- Internal speaks silent. ```speaker-test -D plughw:1,0``` produces silence with no errors
- dmesg shows:
[ 30.898782] snd_hda_codec_conexant hdaudioC1D0: SN6180: BIOS auto-probing.
[ 30.899529] snd_hda_codec_conexant hdaudioC1D0: autoconfig for SN6180: line_outs=1 (0x17/0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0) type:speaker
[ 30.899535] snd_hda_codec_conexant hdaudioC1D0: speaker_outs=0 (0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0)
[ 30.899538] snd_hda_codec_conexant hdaudioC1D0: hp_outs=1 (0x16/0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0)
[ 30.899540] snd_hda_codec_conexant hdaudioC1D0: mono: mono_out=0x0
[ 30.899542] snd_hda_codec_conexant hdaudioC1D0: inputs:
[ 30.899545] snd_hda_codec_conexant hdaudioC1D0: Mic=0x19
[ 30.899547] snd_hda_codec_conexant hdaudioC1D0: Internal Mic=0x1a
- Codec dump shows pins 0x18, 0x1a, 0x1d, 0x1e, 0x1f, 0x21, 0x26, 0x27 all reported as "Not connected" by BIOS, which suggests incomplete pin config from firmware.
This appears analogous to commit 7c9caa2993 ("ALSA: hda - Fix speaker and headset mic pin config for CHUWI CoreBook XPro") but for Subsystem Id: 0x20147054.
I have attached the output from alsa-info.sh.
Happy to test patches.
Sincerely,
Andrew
