From: Greg Kroah-Hartman <[email protected]> Description =========== In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: platform/x86: uniwill-laptop: Do not enable the charging limit even when forced It seems that on some older models (~2020) the battery charging limit can permanently damage the battery. Prevent users from enabling this feature thru the "force" module parameter to avoid causing permanent hardware damage on such devices. The Linux kernel CVE team has assigned CVE-2026-64143 to this issue. Affected and fixed versions =========================== Issue introduced in 6.19 with commit d050479693bb91da5a0e305ca9dd59f4c0b55dd3 and fixed in 7.0.11 with commit c832a00c9b929b9ad26772833d425f520b2e09cd Issue introduced in 6.19 with commit d050479693bb91da5a0e305ca9dd59f4c0b55dd3 and fixed in 7.1 with commit 26cbe119f99c86dcb4a0136d2bc73c0c716d80e4 Please see https://www.kernel.org for a full list of currently supported kernel versions by the kernel community. Unaffected versions might change over time as fixes are backported to older supported kernel versions. The official CVE entry at https://cve.org/CVERecord/?id=CVE-2026-64143 will be updated if fixes are backported, please check that for the most up to date information about this issue. Affected files ============== The file(s) affected by this issue are: Documentation/admin-guide/laptops/uniwill-laptop.rst drivers/platform/x86/uniwill/uniwill-acpi.c Mitigation ========== The Linux kernel CVE team recommends that you update to the latest stable kernel version for this, and many other bugfixes. Individual changes are never tested alone, but rather are part of a larger kernel release. Cherry-picking individual commits is not recommended or supported by the Linux kernel community at all. If however, updating to the latest release is impossible, the individual changes to resolve this issue can be found at these commits: https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/c832a00c9b929b9ad26772833d425f520b2e09cd https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/26cbe119f99c86dcb4a0136d2bc73c0c716d80e4
