From: Greg Kroah-Hartman <[email protected]> Description =========== In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: hwmon: (nzxt-kraken3) Stop device IO before calling hid_hw_stop Calling hid_hw_stop() does not stop the device IO. This results in a race condition between hid_input_report() and the point immediately following the execution of hid_device_io_start() within the driver probe function. If the probe operation fails after "io start" has been initiated, this race condition will result in a UAF vulnerability. Fix the problem by calling hid_device_io_stop() before calling hid_hw_stop(). The Linux kernel CVE team has assigned CVE-2026-68358 to this issue. Affected and fixed versions =========================== Issue introduced in 6.9 with commit f3b4b146eb107bda47ee4a8b0927699f962e8a2f and fixed in 6.12.101 with commit 8cb282c34d582afcca7b1bae7c7bcd5204fd03d6 Issue introduced in 6.9 with commit f3b4b146eb107bda47ee4a8b0927699f962e8a2f and fixed in 6.18.42 with commit 305c23993e43db9a3681978691b1f9f2a1b26299 Issue introduced in 6.9 with commit f3b4b146eb107bda47ee4a8b0927699f962e8a2f and fixed in 7.1.6 with commit dc73b0dfeab8dc0fe73e29c4401d032279e23efd Issue introduced in 6.9 with commit f3b4b146eb107bda47ee4a8b0927699f962e8a2f and fixed in 7.2-rc5 with commit f151d0143ac4e086f92f52328ebdbdc50933d8ef Please see https://www.kernel.org for a full list of currently supported kernel versions by the kernel community. Unaffected versions might change over time as fixes are backported to older supported kernel versions. The official CVE entry at https://cve.org/CVERecord/?id=CVE-2026-68358 will be updated if fixes are backported, please check that for the most up to date information about this issue. Affected files ============== The file(s) affected by this issue are: drivers/hwmon/nzxt-kraken3.c Mitigation ========== The Linux kernel CVE team recommends that you update to the latest stable kernel version for this, and many other bugfixes. Individual changes are never tested alone, but rather are part of a larger kernel release. Cherry-picking individual commits is not recommended or supported by the Linux kernel community at all. If however, updating to the latest release is impossible, the individual changes to resolve this issue can be found at these commits: https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/8cb282c34d582afcca7b1bae7c7bcd5204fd03d6 https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/305c23993e43db9a3681978691b1f9f2a1b26299 https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/dc73b0dfeab8dc0fe73e29c4401d032279e23efd https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/f151d0143ac4e086f92f52328ebdbdc50933d8ef
