Have you build numactl yourself and tried to run the tests included?

This is what I've tried on my machine and the test succeeded.

wget ftp://oss.sgi.com/www/projects/libnuma/download/numactl-2.0.10.tar=
=2Egz
tar xvf numactl-2.0.10.tar.gz
cd numactl-2.0.10/
=2E/configure
make
make test
