An unexpected IO-APIC was found

Found the following message in my kernel:

An unexpected IO-APIC was found. If this kernel release is less
than
three months old please report this to [email protected]
--------------------------------------------------------------

I tried installing kernel 2.4.24. For details please see attached
dmesg output
as well as my kernel configuration file .config. I just
recompiled the
kernel with 'make mrproper' and the unchanged config file - the
problem
persists.

The problem expressis itself through the strange behaviour of my
USB bus.
Only he front-side hub/port is working, not the one in the bask.
