An unexpected IO-APIC was found

I have been having problems with my system locking up. I saw the 
following in /var/log/messages. I am running:

Red Hat Enterpise linux AS with the latest kernel, 2.4.21-9.0.1.ELsmp

It is a single P4 processor system running in hyperthread mode, that is 
itis running the smp kernel. Let me know if you want more info.
