nmi_watchdog on athlon x2

Hello

I am trying to figure out some weird hard lockup issue that started
with kernel version 2.6.29.  Bisecting is starting to be a pain since
its hard to reproduce the lockup.  I am trying to enable nmi_watchdog
on my system but it does not seem to work.  The processor is an
athlon64 x2 4400+ 939.  The motherboard is an ASUS A8V Deluxe.  I was
wondering if nmi is supported on this processor.
