Hello Steve,

You can do the following:

1) create a new machine that includes your vendor's.

my-layer/conf/machine/my-test-machine.conf

containing:

include conf/machine/test-machine.conf

or

require conf/machine/test-machine.conf

2) Add your modifications.
3) Set MACHINE to "my-test-machine"
